BED Group
Binge eating disorder is characterized by a person having frequent episodes of eating what others would consider an abnormally large amount of food, while at the same time feeling out of control — the person feels like they are unable to control what or how much is being eaten.

This group is led by a clinician who specializes in Binge Eating Disorder and Emotional Eating and uses evidence-based therapies to help clients lower their episodes of binging, increase confidence, eat mindfully without shame, and  live life more fully. The group is currently run virtually.

Our daughter has been in and out of Prosperity since November 29, 2021. While at Prosperity Herndon location, she has received care from 4 amazing professionals: Katrina Baron, Susan Kouzel, Emily Portervint and Adrianna Rodriguez. Our family also received support from numerous other, amazing staff at the Herndon facility to include Taylor Hutchison and Brenda Landerverde.

Our daughter has been on a very difficult journey that started in the summer of 2021. One afternoon, I remember frantically googling on my phone ‘eating disorder treatment’ and one of the first places that popped up was Prosperity. I remember quickly calling the number and talking with Laura Zapata whose calm and reassuring voice answered my many questions. Eventually we connected with Lauren Rule, Dannica Conley and Kate D’Amica who provided great advice and support.

Although her journey is not over, I can finally say that she is doing better. Prosperity saved our daughter and family! Our daughter is smiling again, talking with us, cooking, eating meals with the family and enjoying food, her siblings, and more. Her recovery wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the Prosperity team assigned to her and to our family. Adrianna helped us reconnect as a family and Katrina patiently worked with us to figure out the optimal medication to treat our child’s depression, anxiety and self harming. She was also extremely responsive when we needed medical forms completed for a residential facility and for school. Because of this great team, she stepped down to IOP this week and will return to school this month. We couldn’t have done it without Katrina, Susan, Emily and Adrianna and the rest of the staff at Prosperity.

I would also like to take this opportunity to give extra recognition and thank you to Emily Portervint and Susan Kouzel. Through this whole process, they have been nothing less than amazing. They always went above and beyond to support and guide us. They actively listened, genuinely cared, calmly guided and respectfully advised us every step of the way; no matter what time of day or night. Emily and Susan always quickly responded to ALL of our emails with utmost professionalism and concern. They provided detailed accounts of our daughter’s progress, especially when she wasn’t talking to us at home. They encouraged us and helped us see the bright spots even when we couldn’t see them ourselves. Although Emily and Susan had other clients to care for, they always made us feel like our daughter was their top priority. Their expertise and focus on client well being was always evident, especially one Friday night when we had to take her to the hospital for self harming. We didn’t know who to turn to so we wrote an email to Emily and Susan; they immediately replied. In fact, Susan talked with our child in the ER when no one else could get through to her and Emily made herself available that night to help us as parents navigate through the situation. With both of their help, she calmed down and went home safely. Emily and Susan’s concern for her well being continued even when she was at a residential program. Emily and Susan put their clients first, maintain respect, calmness and reassurance and are always willing to go the extra mile. Emily and Susan are angels that stood by our daughter’s side through thick and thin; they helped her get through the darkest of days,

equipped her with tools and facts and showed her the potential for bright days ahead. We are so grateful for Emily and Susan.

With the help of the Prosperity team, our daughter took back the control that she lost during the pandemic; the ED no longer has the upper hand! Your team and our daughter’s courage and determination got us here and we are so thankful.

Have had various individual providers. Best one is Adrianna – thorough, relatable, helpful, wonderful personality, awesome interactions. Great counsel!! The best!!

I really liked that my practitioners developed a personal relationship with me, I wasn’t just another client to them.
My family love Adrianna Rodriguez! She helped save my daughter Emma’s life and helped her and all of us move to happy and healthy lives. Emma developed anorexia at age 11 and through in person and online therapy Adrianna worked with us using Family Based Treatment. She’s well versed, compassionate, competent and experienced. Highly recommended~
Adrianna was amazing! She helped our family learn how to approach the anorexic concept and learn what triggers my daughters brain to think things we were not aware of because she didn’t voice . She is very knowledgeable and having lived her own experience makes empathetic to bith
I absolutely love Adrianna. She’s personable, caring, thorough, spirited, and ever-so helpful. I can wholeheartedly say that she was (and is!) a huge part of my mental health journey in the most positive way possible. I’m eternally thankful for her. I’ve been seeing her for years, I wouldn’t ever go to another therapist. I’ve recommended her to lots of friends as well! There’s nothing that I could ask her to do better.
Adrianna has been amazing. She is very in tune with my daughter’s challenges, works extremely well with me by providing reinforcement and encouragement, and shows a great deal of passion and commitment.
Felt incredibly supported and loved by Dr Weaver, Ashley and the dietitians I met.
